Pearl Treatment
The Pearl treatment is a resurfacing laser system used for repairing the visible signs of aging such as age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration and uneven texture, reducing pore size, and repairing sun-damaged skin. This anti-aging treatment can be used for skin on the face, neck, upper chest and hands.
Compared to other anti-aging laser treatments, the Pearl emits a wavelength of 2,790 nanometers. This provides the maximum benefit of laser resurfacing while limiting the downtime period at the same time.
How the Pearl treatment works
- During the actual procedure, pulses of light are lightly delivered to the epidermis of your skin in a pre-selected pattern
- At the same time, the laser is sending heat to the deeper layers of your skin to induce the growth of collagen
- While the pulse light is being maneuvered on your skin, you will feel some minimal and short pinches on the surface, which are well tolerated
- Afterwards, a natural protective dressing builds on your skin to minimize the need for downtime during the recovery process
The actual treatment will take about 10 to 15 minutes. There is a downtime period of at least three to four days after the treatment in which the treated areas of your skin will have a pink/red and sunburned appearance. The doctor will advise you to apply moisturizing ointment on the treated skin during the downtime period.
Since you may not apply sunscreen on your skin during the downtime period, you should wear protective clothing and limit your sun exposure during this time. You can still continue your normal daily activities during this time, but it is preferable if you do not attend any social events due to your skin's sunburned appearance.
About four to five days after the treatment, the natural protective dressing on your face will gradually peel off to reveal a glowing, healthy and rejuvenated skin. You will notice that there is improvement in the overall clarity, smoothness and softness of your skin.
The Pearl treatment has several advantages over other laser-based anti aging treatments. You only need from one to two sessions to experience its full results and there is just three to four days of downtime. In contrast, other treatments require four to six sessions and they have an average downtime of 18 days.
